Confidential Mode will push users further into Googleβs own walled garden while giving them what we believe are misleading assurances of privacy and security.
Itβs important to note at the outset that because Confidential Mode emails are not end-to-end encrypted, Google can see the contents of your messages and has the technical capability to store them indefinitely. In other words, Confidential Mode provides zero confidentiality with regard to Google.

Software engineering student graduating soonish. I interned at a few places, most recently at a company that mostly builds GPUs, hobbies include recording songs, reading, fitness, used to also be into gaming (3800 hours in Dota π€¦ββοΈ) but now not so much. Also watch a lot more TV than I should, and ranting about political injustices sometimes. Tech topics that interest me are security, AI, graphics, and distributed stuff.
